Subscriptions - Re-Starting Hockey

Dear All,

I do hope you are all well and have kept safe during this last Lockdown.

As the ‘Road Map’ to re-opening starts to come forward we are all looking forward to the return to Hockey in due course (separate Communications will follow on this).

During the Lockdown The DHC Committee have still been busy behind the scenes and working to maintain and in time improve and update the Clubs Facilities - This of course includes Prudent Financial Management of the Clubs Funds and Resources.

The Clubs main Income streams are those of both Annual Subscriptions and Match Fees – the latter having been severely affected by the closure of our Sport during the Lockdowns.

However:

DHC Subscriptions Communication

As the 2020/21 Hockey Season has been significantly affected by COVID 19 The Management Committee of DHC have agreed to look at the Membership Subscription for the 2021/22 Season.

Any Proposal will be put forward to the Members at the AGM for agreement.

We are looking into a reduced Subscription for those who have supported the Club by payment of their Full Membership for this Season.

So the Proposal is likely to be that those who have paid in Full for the 2020/21 Season will be eligible for a reduced Subscription of up to 50%.

Just to be clear – if a Member has not paid a Full Subscription in 2020/21 then they will NOT be eligible for this discount.

Clearly, if agreed at the AGM, the effect will have a significant impact upon The Clubs Income for next Season – so it will then be at the Individuals discretion as to whether they choose to take this up or they may wish to continue to support the Club and Pay a Full Membership.

We would welcome any other ideas as to how we may mitigate the loss of any Revenue but The Committee are aware of the effect of the CV19 Financial position for some Members and so wish to reflect the Individual’s needs – any discussions will of course remain Confidential.

We do hope the above Proposal will be received favourably by The Members and the Full Proposal will be detailed in the Notice to the next AGM in due course.

Yours

Richard Turner – Chairman

Tom Rivett - Treasurer

Club Hockey Suspended

England Hockey are disappointed to have to confirm that the national lockdown announced on Saturday will mean no club or community hockey from 5 November until after 4 December at the earliest.

The latest government announcement orders all sports facilities to close and therefore club and other community hockey activity is suspended until the game is in a position to resume.

Over the last few months all those involved in delivering hockey safely have helped to prove that the sport is extremely low risk in terms of the transmission of Covid and this gives us confidence that we can be back soon. We are very grateful to all the Covid officers, volunteers, players, coaches and officials that went the extra mile to provide a safe place for hockey to be played.

At England Hockey we continue to receive overwhelming feedback from participants that the physical and mental health benefits of being able to take part are significant. We recognise that the next few weeks will be challenging for those like us that love the game and will miss the opportunity to be out playing, coaching and officiating with friends.

The government announcement made reference to returning to the Covid Alert Levels after the end of this period of lockdown, and should that be the case we are confident that clubs will be able to resume promptly in line with our previously-issued Return to Play guidance. If it becomes clearer in time that the lockdown will end on 4 December we encourage clubs to consider resuming some activity before Christmas if at all possible. To mitigate the risk of changes and with the uncertainty about what Level the club may be in at the end of this period, we recommend that the time until Christmas is used for training and very local matches. The aim of this is to ensure that activities fall in line with any Level-based restrictions that may be in place.

It will take time to determine the best approach to reorganising activity and we ask that players and clubs respect the need for organisers to consider the next steps properly in light of the timing and extent of the upcoming break.

England Hockey will communicate with all clubs, England Hockey League teams and EH Championships entrants as well as Player Pathway organisers in the coming days.

RETURN TO PLAY- Covid19

We hope that you are all looking forward to returning to hockey as much as the Club Committee is!
It was announced by England Hockey last Friday that hockey training and local matches can now start, which is, of course, very exciting news.
To do this The Club is required to put several safeguards in place and everyone who wants to be involved will have to register.

This bulletin explains everything that you need to do for this new season.

Sign up to play – this includes ALL Players, Coaches and Umpires
If you want to get back to Playing / Umpiring or Coaching, you must complete the England Hockey Participation Agreement.
If you DON’T complete the agreement you cannot participate. You must sign up at least 24 hours before you want to take part – so please do this as soon as possible.
You will find the online form here: England Hockey Participation Agreement
All participants must read and follow the ‘advice to participants’ document attached to this email.

Club Covid-19 Officer

The club appointed officer is Georgie Sutton & Richard Wright, and they are responsible along with the Club Committee for ensuring the club follows all the guidelines set by EH and government.

At Home

Sign a Participation Agreement

Bring hand sanitiser

Wear your playing kit

Self-assess for Covid symptoms - if you have symptoms contact the NHS for a test

Ensure that each child has their own water bottle, hand sanitiser and any necessary medication (e.g. inhaler).

All items belonging to their child should be labelled withtheir name and should not be used by anyone else

Outside of play

Follow the government travel advice (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-safer-travel-guidance-for-passengers)

Check in with your organiser for Track and Trace purposes

Socially distance at 2m distancing in maximum sized groups of 6

Clean your hands during breaks

Follow the facility rules when accessing indoor spaces

During Play

Respect your opposition and umpires

Take Penalty Corners and Free-hits around the D promptly

Touch the ball with your stick/GK equipment and not your hands

Use your own protective equipment or disinfect before use (e.g. facemasks)

Socially distance when play stops

Avoid shouting excessively or spitting

No handshakes with other players or close contact during goal celebrations

Avoid running training exercises that involve overly repetitive close contact between players.

Parents/guardians should ideally be limited to one non-participant with strict social distancing between spectators.

After Play

Clean your kit or leave for 72 hours

If you display any symptoms of COVID-19 after playing hockey, contact your hockey

provider’s COVID-19 Officer for further information (including contacting NHS Test & Trace)

In addition to the above EH registration you MUST also update or register on our website under the Members Area tab.

Again you need to (re)register NOW so we are up to date with contact details.
